More stringent Federal bumper standards forced Chevy to design all new bumpers. The new bumpers were aluminum and had spring steel supports beneath them to provide better impact resistance. 1974 Camaros received a seat-belt interlock that prevented the car from being started until the driver and the front seat passenger buckled up. This proved very unpopular, and was discontinued mid-year. The 350 was the only V8 offered. The Rally Sport disappeared from the lineup. The Z28 could be had with bold decal graphics; these cars received no exterior Z28 emblems.
